2026 Newsletter

@mjbright Consulting activities from 2024 …

Welcome to the 2026 edition of our annual newsletter!

The theme for 2026 is all about elevating the training experience. We’re not just adding new topics; we’re fundamentally enhancing how training is delivered and experienced, from the underlying lab infrastructure to the interactive tools used in our virtual classrooms. Let’s dive in!

Specific acheivements we’re proud of in 2025 are

  • Becoming an official HashiCorp Terraform Instructor
  • Tools development
  • Filling in for an instructor on a 4-days Kubernetes training with just 90 minutes notice !

2025: Looking Back

Our mission to deliver high-impact, rich training experiences for enterprises upskilling their teams in Cloud Native technologies continued with great success in 2025.

New tools were developed for

  • interactive quizzes - especially useful for exam preparation trainings
  • and visualisations (Kubernetes).

We built upon the foundations of previous years, expanding our curriculum and strengthening our partnerships.

2025 Training Deliveries

It was a busy and rewarding year. We delivered a total of 20 trainings, amounting to over 4100 student hours. This growth reflects the increasing demand for deep technical skills in the cloud native ecosystem. Our curriculum covered:

  • Kubernetes (Administrator, Developer, CKAD Preparation)
  • Advanced Kubernetes (Security, Policy Management with OPA/Kyverno)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform &; OpenTofu, from Intro to Advanced)
  • Configuration Management with Ansible

2025 Events Participation

Staying connected with the community and abreast of the latest technological trends is vital. In 2025, I had the pleasure of attending and participating in a number of fantastic events:

  • Learning Technologies, Paris
  • FOSDEM, Brussels
  • KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe, London
  • OpenEdx Conference, Paris
  • Open Source Summit, Amsterdam

Would I pick a favourite ?

That’s difficult, but maybe FOSDEM. I miss attending rejekts.io, https://cloud-native.rejekts.io/ - the “b-side” of KubeConEU, which I’ll miss again in Amsterdam … I hope to catch it when KubeConEU returns closer to home in Barcelona in 2027.

Looking Forward to 2026

This year is all about refinement and enhancement. We’re taking the lessons from hundreds of training sessions and investing in three key areas to provide an unparalleled learning journey for every student.

New, More Extensive Lab Hosting Environments

A great training experience requires a flawless lab environment - in 2025 we experimented with several on-premise, hosted bare metal and classic cloud environments. In 2026 we will continue to evolve those solutions for the best trainee experience, adapted to different styles of delivery.

New Training Tools and Interactive Ideas

Virtual training doesn’t have to be a passive experience. We are integrating a new suite of interactive tools to foster collaboration and engagement. This includes the use of collaborative digital whiteboards for architecture brainstorming, real-time polls and quizzes to reinforce key concepts, and shared terminal sessions for pair-programming-style problem-solving. Our goal is to make every virtual session as dynamic and engaging as an in-person workshop.

New Strategic Partnerships

Several new training partners came on board in 2025 - with whom I look forward to working with in 2026. One of those partners - LearnQuest - gave me the opportunity to interview to be an official HashiCorp Instructor. After 6 years of Terraform training delivery it is nice to get that recognition.

2026 Public Virtual Training Schedule

While most of our work is private, virtual or on-site training for corporate teams, we reserve several dates for public, virtual courses. We remain flexible and can offer sessions as consecutive full days or spread over several half-days.

Guaranteed to Run (Contact for availability):

Reflections on Wasm I/O 2024: A Glimpse into the Future of WebAssembly

Reflections on Wasm I/O 2024

Also published at: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7176503564394004480/

Last week, I attended the 2nd Wasm I/O conference in Barcelona, 2 hours from our base. I’ve dabbled with WebAssembly but the time is right to dive deeper into this emerging technology. Wasm I/O is a nice human sized conference facilitating networking & knowledge exchange. Despite the scarcity of container officionados, the presence of industry stalwarts like Nigel Poulton & Saiyam Pathak from the Kubernetes realm allowed insightful conversations.

The conference left me convinced that the WebAssembly domain is on the cusp of a breakthrough, poised to revolutionize cloud computing, AI but also niche sectors like embedded systems & IoT. It feels akin to a puzzle nearing completion, with just a few pieces left to place for the full picture to emerge. In a future post, I’ll share insights from KubeConEU in Paris, where WebAssembly’s integration was notably significant.

Highlights from Wasm I/O included groundbreaking talks & workshops, especially those focusing on leveraging Wasm on small devices. The potential for secure application execution across various platforms, from desktops to the smallest IoT devices, is immense. A standout session was by Gapfruit, a Swiss company specializing in Industrial IoT, which showcased their commitment to creating secure computing systems. Their approach to safeguarding applications from external threats was particularly compelling, indicating a serious dedication to advancing secure computing.

The conference also featured innovative uses of AI, such as Midokura’s (Sony) discussion on embedding AI in webcams for efficient data processing reducing the need to transfer vast amounts of raw data.

Exploring the Wasmer ecosystem’s offerings – from compilers to runtime environments and artifact registries – was another highlight.

John de Goes’ of Golem Cloud showed a model for distributing requests across nodes to achieve resilience, reminiscent of the Raft consensus protocol.

Microsoft’s demonstrated Wasm debugging in VS Code - but I felt there was so much more that they could have said about their Wasm investments.

Looking ahead, I’m eager to experiment with various tools & cloud solutions like Wasmer Cloud & Fermyon Cloud, or as a Kubernetes trainer, I’m particularly excited about SpinKube, or Wasm on Raspberry Pi.

I currently don’t offer WebAssembly training, but plans are underway to develop courses in this area.

Lastly, as KubeCon week progresses, I’m pleased to announce our upcoming “Kubernetes Admin” online training sessions scheduled for April through July, now open for registration with a special 15% discount to celebrate KubeCon week.

The first monthly cohorts will be 9h-17h Paris time, from Monday 8th to Thursday 11th April. https://lnkd.in/gExpCYyc

If you’re attending Rejekts.io or KubeCon, do say hello! I look forward to sharing my experiences from both events soon.
